BlackBerry Campus Ambassador (Team Member)
January 2012 - May 2012
I had the privilege of doing promotional work for BlackBerry on the Illinois State University campus. Our team of six students, worked together to select reputable events on-campus to sponsor and integrate the BlackBerry brand into. We did so through promotional tables, product demonstrations, social media campaigns, and audience engagement activities throughout the events.
E-Commerce Marketing Internship with Magid Glove & SafetyJune 2012 - August 2012
I interned in the E-Commerce marketing department of Magid Glove & Safety. Magid is the nations largest manufacturer and distributor of industrial safety equipment. My role was to support the other members of the department in their various projects throughout the summer. During my time, I completed projects such as: competitive price analysis; developing a comparison shopping engine campaign; optimizing content on the website to improve search engine rankings; assisting in the creation of a new clearance section on the website; and training current employees on social media.
Social Media Specialist with Packback Books
December 2012 - Present
Packback is an e-Textbook start up that is developing a platform where students can rent textbooks on a 24hr basis. Students will often purchase a book for $200 at the beginning of the semester, and only use them during mid-terms or finals. Therefore this system was developed to solve that problem, while also allowing them to purchase the e-Book at a discounted price after a few rentals if need be. During the Fall of 2013, Packback will be doing a trial run with Illinois State University. My job has been to lead a team of three other interns in creating brand awareness across campus. This has been done primarily with social media, but also through guerrilla marketing, on-campus events and sweepstakes, and the development of a free bookswap app for students. This experience has familiarized me with several different social media platforms such as: Facebook; Storify; Twitter; and Hootsuite.
